I am relatively new to the world of social media, however once I had ear-bashed my friends, and family with my low carb theories, social media was the next available outlet. I have no delusions of grandeur around my social media profile, I do nevertheless enjoy researching my website stats and comparing them with the leaders in the low carb field. On a daily basis I am left wanting, but it just makes me want to do better!!
This week’s market research has highlighted that friends, wine, and chocolate are all quite high on the list of things you ‘like.’ I post a simple low carb chocolate recipe and get more traffic on my website than any one day in the last 6 months. A low carb option for drinking red wine came a close second, but a wonderful post written by a good friend earlier this year about her low carb weight-loss story clearly out rated both.
So the results of this week’s research are simple but significant. There are things in life that just make us feel good. The very cool thing is that contrary to popular opinion it is possible to continue a full and rewarding social life with family and friends and still make major changes to your dietary behaviours.
From Facebook conversations I have had this week, I know that many of you have already made changes to a cleaner whole food mode of eating, others are trying and struggling. I also know that many of you have lost those extra kilos that have plagued you since you turned 40.
For the rest of you, my advice is this; even some small changes to your diet will make a difference. You will however truly benefit from taking the leap and removing those processed and high carbohydrate foods. There are some amazing stories out there about people whose lives changed dramatically (positively) when they embarked on the low carb high fat diet. You can read those stories, they are easy to find on the net. Alternatively you can make your own story, and when you do, please tell me about it. You never know, it might just garner more interest than a low carb chocolate. It would need to be good though!
There is of course a strong possibility that you are reading my posts and clicking on my website because you are related to me, or are a friend and just feel obliged. Keep reading my friends, one day you’ll be glad you did!

Hi Julia, I found you through my daughter Karon, so although I haven’t yet made the full change to low carbo and high fat I am making small changes. Do keep posting because it is very interesting reading what your going to come up with next. I will certainly be reading.
Best wishes Judi

Hi Suzanne
Firstly welcome and secondly regarding your crop of beans; I avoid all legumes -beans, peas, chickpeas etc due to their high carb count. So my advice would be to include them but not regularly , once a week or so and give the rest to your ‘not yet’ low carb friends and neighbours! Maybe don’t plant any for next year and avoid the dilemma. In short though beans are out!
